Having been taught photography through darkroom techniques and practices, my education at has been primarily focused around the use of 35mm black and white mediums, as well as integrated medium and large format compositions.

Expanding my practice into colour and digital at university, where I studied at Edinburgh College of Art, and thus attaining a degree, I found that my work continued to revolve around more observational than staged photography productions. I experimented with studio works, however, I found it never truely satisfied me. Shooting environments and scenes of candid and everyday life, that caught my attention. From this, I found myself revolving back to 35mm black and white in my final year, whereby the nightlife of my local area, Tollcross, became my focus for my final year works.

This project, titled 'In The Night', explored processes of printmaking, analogue and written arrangements, additionally combining themes of poetry with letter pressing.

Presented are some of the final outcomes of products I made during my final year, they follow concepts of isolation and quiet, independence and reflection, expressing the slowness of the processes they hold in a bustling town such as Edinburgh, all derived from photographs I shot on film.
